CASE STUDY | ICU Metrix

The Client

A medical practice partnership operating in three different hospitals in Colorado developed a process for delivering care that has significantly reduced costs, enhanced electronic medical records (EMR) data collection, and improved patient outcomes. In order to package this process and the supporting technology for sale to other hospitals and medical practice groups, so that they too could realize the same benefits, the practice created a new entity, ICU Metrix.

The Challenge

With a myriad of demands and priorities in their daily practice, ICU Metrix needed help to develop a work plan and go-to-market strategy to assess the viability of the system and introduce it to market.

The Approach

Through a series of facilitated sessions, enVision Business Consulting led the client team in the development and articulation of their business strategy. Our focus was on:

Identifying the guiding principles of the new entity
Developing the business objectives leading to commercial sales of the product – including the critical success factors, barriers to success and the strategies to support each of the objectives
Creating an elevator speech for marketing
Additionally, enVision developed a go-to-market plan detailing planning and initiation, beta testing, preparation for commercialization, and system commercialization.

The Results

enVision Business Consulting delivered on our promise to develop a comprehensive work-plan and go-to-market strategy. According to Dr. Neale Lange, MD, “enVision accomplished more in one month than ICU Metrix was able to achieve in a year.”  enVision defined the strategy and objectives of the new organization by understanding and leveraging the best practices of the current partnership.

The go-to-market work plan was well received, providing the breadth and depth of knowledge necessary to successfully introduce their system to the health care market, as well as a methodology to move forward with their initiative.
